Cockle shell finish on the Fitzwilliam College Master's Lodge

Initially we had to remove the old render from the house. This ensured we had enough room to apply new render around the quoins and windowsills. Along with giving us a stable, flat surface to work from.

Then the rendering began; we applied a scratch coat of Krend HPX followed by a top/receiving coat of Fassacouche in the colour Rognes. The shells were immediately dashed into this coat.

We had to wash the shells to remove grit. We then had to dry the shells before using them.

This is an image of the original render which had to be replaced due to age and deterioration. Below is a closeup.

This is the completed job after applying the render and shells.
